New LeBron’s Could Cost You Over $2,000
How much do you love LeBron — and how much extra cash do you have?
For the second question, the number needs to be at least $2,053 and counting, as live bid/ask marketplace StockX auctions off 23 pairs of its latest LeBron James signature sneakers.
The novel marketing gimmick is packaging a pair of the “LeBron 14 Out of Nowhere” sneaks with a replica Cleveland Cavaliers championship ring, according to StockX.
The ring is made from “durilium metal and cubic zircon,” rather than the gold and diamonds used for the real thing.
The biggest attraction, however, may be the box that’s been made for these goodies — fashioned from cut-up planks of the hardwood at Quicken Loans Arena, where the Cavs played last year’s championship season.
“The top has been left in its raw state to maintain its character,” Nike’s site says of the box, “which means it may contain scuff marks from sneakers or other markings.”
At the time of this posting, the bid is at $2,604. Whew!
The auction is slated to end Today at 9pm ET.
